The stage extends beyond the proscenium arch, creating an intimate atmosphere that encourages audience participation. Backstage facilities include a workshop, truck dock, and well-appointed changing rooms.

The NSSC, a generous gift from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, the Tata Group, and IISc, is a premier venue for scientific discourse located within the IISc campus and  the  first  of  its  kind  in  India. Spanning approximately 5750 square meters, the complex hosts a range of events, including seminars, symposia, and conferences in science, technology, and management. Organized by leading scientific societies, educational institutions, and professional bodies, these events cater to a diverse audience. In addition to the renowned JN Tata Auditorium, the NSSC houses versatile foyer spaces, multiple seminar halls, and an open-air auditorium. The complex is designed to be inclusive, offering amenities to accommodate individuals with disabilities.

The NSSC’s spacious foyer serves as a versatile hub for registration, booking counters, poster sessions, exhibitions, and reception areas. The complex also features three intimate seminar halls (A, B, and C) accommodating 120, 90, and 60 attendees respectively. These steeply raked halls offer optimal viewing, close proximity to speakers, and a focused environment devoid of distractions. Each hall is equipped with a high-quality projector housed in a separate room. The open-air auditorium, accessible via wide stairs, is located on the terrace of the JN Tata Auditorium and includes a stage and dedicated changing rooms.
